Une porte marque le point de passage d’un endroit à un autre : c’est l’élément constitutif d’une maison. « Les portes du non-retour » désignent les lieux, points de départ de millions de captifs réduits en esclavage vers les colonies outre-Atlantique à l’époque de la traite. THE DOORS pose une « porte de retour » dans l’espace et dans le temps pour les humains déracinés. Les artistes invitent à ouvrir cette porte pour faciliter le retour, et à marcher ensemble dans un acte de mémoire. Sur le chemin du retour, « les portes du non-retour » nous font face à Bimbia. Nous sommes invités à saisir le passé, pour comprendre le présent, et embrasser l’avenir.
Le voyage s’effectue, équipé d’un casque et d’une calebasse permettant de voir l’invisible. THE DOORS invite à ouvrir nos portes intérieures, et à regarder vers l’horizon. Vers les nuits et les jours qui se lèvent pour chanter une autre humanité qui vient nous dire : « Tout Moun Sè Ubuntu ». Suivez l’esprit, écoutez la calebasse.
Bimbia au Cameroun est le dernier site reconnu à ce jour par l’UNESCO comme point de départ des esclaves. Bimbia était un village entièrement transformé en plaque tournante du commerce.

A door marks the point of passage from one place to another: it is the constituent element of a house. “The doors of no return” designate the places, departure points of millions of captives reduced to slavery towards the colonies across the Atlantic during the era of the slave trade. THE DOORS poses a “door of return” in space and time for uprooted humans. The artists invite us to open this door to facilitate the return, and to walk together in an act of memory. On the way back, “the doors of no return” face us in Bimbia. We are invited to grasp the past, to understand the present, and to embrace the future.
The journey takes place, equipped with a helmet and a gourd allowing one to see the invisible. THE DOORS invites us to open our interior doors and look towards the horizon. Towards the nights and days which rise to sing another humanity which comes to tell us: “Tout Moun Sè Ubuntu”. Follow the spirit, listen to the calabash.

The Doors,” invites us to traverse the space and time of uprooted and deported individuals. These doors symbolize a return journey, urging us to confront the “doors of no return” that represent the starting point of dehumanization. As we accompany these voices of memory, we are challenged to explore what we leave behind and what silently travels with us.
